01 / Working size

Small scope is not small thinking.

A defined brief gets a sharper answer. We keep the approval loop short and record the reason behind each decision, so the files do not arrive as a mystery.

Ask
What needs to change in the next public touchpoint? A storefront, a first page, or the words on the card.
Choose
One route is developed in black and white before colour, decoration, or extra pages can distract from the job.
Receive
A named set of exports, rules, and copy that a printer, browser, or future collaborator can use without calling us.
02 / What we sell

Four useful places to start.

For local businesses with a defined problem and no appetite for agency theatre.

01mark
Large wordmark proof with crop marks on a cutting table

Logo and mark

One primary direction, refined until it holds at storefront size and in a browser tab.

See logo work

Basis: agreed mark scope and revision count.

02system
Business cards and letter sheets showing one identity system

Compact identity

Mark, type, colour, spacing, and basic applications held together by rules you can repeat.

See identity work

Basis: number of agreed identity components.

03web
Printed responsive layouts beside a browser proof

Visit-card website

A small responsive site with a defined page count, supplied or commissioned copy, and no dead-end sections.

See website work

Basis: page count, content condition, and implementation scope.

04words
Printed brand copy with pencil edits and revision marks

Brand copy set

Voice direction and page copy that says what the business does before the reader has to ask.

See copy work

Basis: word count, page count, and editing depth.

03 / The decision plate

Every visible choice has a job.

The annotated plate is how we talk about the work. Contrast is not a mood. Type scale is not decoration. A file handoff is part of the design, not an administrative afterthought.

01 / contrast

Black first. If the mark cannot hold without colour, colour will not save it.

02 / type scale

Set a visible difference between the name and supporting text. Test it at the size someone will read, not just on the board.

03 / reproduction

Reduce the proof until a detail starts to close up. Set the minimum size above that failure point, with the production method recorded.

04 / handoff

Vector files retain their edges when resized. Raster exports have a stated pixel size so nobody has to guess which file fits.

The notes stay visible until the work is understood. Then they become a compact guide.

04 / Proof in the work

Ask what changed.

These studio studies explain how we evaluate an application. They are not client testimonials or claims of measured results. Read the brief beside the production decision.

Identity lettering applied to a local storefront

A sign that reads at the curb.

CASE / IDENTITY APPLICATION
Ask
Study brief: keep storefront lettering readable beside the address rather than treating the sign as an enlarged business card.
Decision
Keep the lettering broad. Test fine internal details at viewing distance before choosing how much space the address needs.
Change
The production requirement changes from fitting the artwork into a rectangle to proving the lettering at its intended viewing distance.
Before-and-after typographic correction proof

One correction, properly made.

CASE / TYPE AND PRODUCTION
Ask
Study brief: correct a crowded printed line without changing the approved wording.
Decision
Compare the line length and type hierarchy before adding color. Keep the original proof beside the correction so the difference can be checked.
Change
An approved correction becomes a rule for later pages, rather than a one-off adjustment that has to be rediscovered.
05 / Brief finder

Start with the part that is failing.

Choose one plain description. The finder points to a service page, not a made-up price.

Choose any one field. If you choose more, the problem takes priority, followed by the project model.

READY FOR A SHORT BRIEF

There is a sensible first step.

Choose any one field above to find a route. If nothing fits, send the rough brief for a scope discussion.

Discuss the brief
06 / The inquiry route

Bring the rough version.

Tell us what needs making, what already exists, and where the work will be used. A useful first note is enough.
